Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and put the uncovered tray in the oven for 5-10 minutes, until the cheese melts. Instead of cheese we can use any other kind of crumbled cheese or even bechamel sauce.

Oopsie bread - "Oopsie" breads

Option 1

When chess pieces come to life, they make even the one who knows a lot about chess curious. Oops, I just made fun of myself by saying I went to a chess show without knowing anything about the main menu? To correct it, let's just say I'm not very good at it and that wasn't the main goal either.

Let me tell you. Marostica is a mountain town in the province of Vicenza, Italy, and is known as the & # 8222 chess city & # 8221. I visited for the first time the castles about 3-4 years ago, the Upper Castle (Castello Superiore) and the Lower Castle (Castello Inferiore), in the courtyard of which there is a huge chessboard. In fact, the symbols of chess can be found everywhere. And then I found out about this chess show that has been organized for even years, for about a few decades now. The first thought was of course that I should not miss a next edition!

And this year it was my turn to be among the spectators, at the 62nd edition of Chess game with human characters (Chess game with living characters).

The initiative to play chess with living characters belonged to the sculptor and the artist Mirko Vucetich (1898-1975), who in 1954 proposed the staging of the historical story, writing the play "Chess Game".

600 people, from 8 to 80 years old, most of them volunteers, proudly represented the city and wore for three days the clothes of the characters from the legendary love story that made Marostica famous all over the world.

The story behind this show dates back to 1454, when two young men, Renaldo D & # 8217Anganaro and Vieri da Vallanora, sons of nobles, both fell in love with the beautiful Lionora, the daughter of Lord Taddeo Parisio. In order to win the hand of the coveted young woman, the two were to duel until death, according to the custom of those times. Parisio, however, refused an unjust fight in which, regardless of the result, he would have lost a valuable warrior for his army, and proposed to the two a diplomatic solution: to play a game of chess. The winner was to marry Lionora, but so that no one was unhappy, and the loser of the game was blessed to marry Parisio's younger sister, Oldrada.

Since it is impossible to reproduce the movements played by the two knights during the original chess game of 1454, since 1954 the organizers of the event decided to be inspired by the most beautiful and famous games in the world history of chess and revoke every two years one of them. The game that serves as inspiration for each edition of the festival, is chosen by the organizing committee and must meet certain conditions: to end with a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 20 moves, to last about 20 minutes and, of course , to be spectacular.

Yoko Ono and her manifesto & # 8222Dream & # 8221

This edition remains in history and for the exclusive homage that the artist Yoko Ono wanted to bring to the city. The opera-manifesto & # 8222Dream & # 8221 which covered the large chessboard in the courtyard of the Lower Castle with a fabric wave of over 500 square meters greeted spectators from all over the peninsula and around the world.

& # 8222Dream & # 8221 is part of the Advertising Art series held on the occasion of the Japanese artist's award in 2009 with the Golden Lion for her entire career at the Biennale di Venezia, when thousands of cards and posters inscribed & # 8222Dream & # 8221 were installed in most major areas of the city.

Guaranteed success at every edition

& # 8222 There are many historical performances in Italy but none of them manage to attract 16,000 people in just 3 days. & # 8221 Maurizio Panici, the show's director for the last 10 years.

During the three days of performance in period costumes, on the occasion of the four performances, Marostica was visited by over 15,000 people. Saturday and Sunday evenings were both sold-out.

The magic of the legendary love story between the beautiful Lionora and the young suitor Da Vallonara knew how to attract the attention of the whole world and a new edition of the most beautiful chess show ended successfully.

The next edition will take place in 2018, between September 7-9.
